History

The rail spur that turns south between McLeansboro and Thackeray was installed for the Inland Steel Coal Mine in 1979. It was later purchased by Consolidated Coal in 1986 and closed in 1988. The infrastructure presently serves as a grain transport center for Soylutions LLC, a subsidiary of Seacor Holdings Inc.
