Carmi had Union Depot at 3rd street, then 1st Street. There was a Freight Depot for the L & N at 3rd Street. A Big Four Freight Depot was located at 5th Street.
A Carmi Times article dated February 8, 1966 from newspapers.com recalls that the 2nd Union Depot located at 1st Street was completed in 1908. The depot served passengers from Carmi with twelve trains from the L & N and New York Central Railroads. At the time that the article was penned, train service had been reduced to two on the L & N line.
